Love in my Tummy

If you haven't been to or heard of Victoria's in Norman, Oklahoma your life is not complete. It is by far the best italian restaurant I have been to, and the best part is that it's this little "hole in a wall" place. It has this total hippie vibe to it, which of course I love. I went to lunch there this past sunday with my lovely roommate court and my friend kelsey. I realized it was a good thing we were eating there on that day because sadly it was the day that Hair closed on broadway. I decided it was good that we were getting some hippie time in honor of Hair. And I have to admit I totally wanted to cry but I held my tears back, I'm just so sad it had to close now and couldn't wait until I get to New York in July. But thats not what this post is about, it's about the wonderfulness that is Victoria's. My usual choice of meal, the tortellini with alfredo sauce, makes me so happy every time I eat it. It is hard for me to try new things even though I like everything I tired from there, I just know my usual will make my tummy happy so why not just get that every time? But Victoria's is an amazing place thats not too expensive and is not only has my favorite food in Norman, but most definately my favorite atmosphere! So find a friend (or a random person either works!) drive to Norman (if your not already here) and go to Victoria's on campus corner. You will have an amazing time, amazing food, and you'll be amazingly happy.

this is the only picture I could find :( so you'll just have to go there to see the inside!

The Greatness of Midnight Premieres

It is appropriate for me to write this post today since I went and saw the midnight premiere of Eclipse (the third movie in the Twilight series) last night at the beautiful Warren theatre in Moore, OK. My friends, Kelsey and Audrey, and I decided we really needed to go to this premiere since we went to the first two Twilight premieres at the Warren as well. I mean it's tradition. Usually we have a bigger group, but sadly we were the only ones in Norman for this one. But no doubt it was eventful. In the past we had gotten to the premieres earlier like 6 or 7 pm. But we figured since it was summer and there were less OU students here it wouldn't be as crazy. Well we were definately wrong! We drove up to the Warren at about 9:40 and the lines were wrapping around the building, and the Warren is a big building! But that is what I love about midnight premieres! The excitement, people yelling, little twilight fans running around. Some may think it's annoying, but I think it makes the movie that much better. Watching a movie with someone who loves it always makes it better. They're reactions help your reactions. So whats better than watching a movie for the first time in a theatre full of die-hard fans. Some people hate it when girls scream the first time Jacob is on screen (with his shirt off, that creates some more buzz) but I think it's funny and makes for a enjoyable experience. Even though the Twilight movies are not the best movies I've ever seen (although I do think Eclipse is the best yet, they keep getting better as they go) I love going to the midnight premieres of them. Just the atmosphere makes the night. I don't care if it's for Batman, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Twilight, or Harry Potter, movies are just better at the midnight premieres. People come as they are, people dress up and get excited, people enjoy each other because they are bonding over a common obsession. Everyone is pumped and happy, which just brings out the smiles and laughs in everyone else.

ahhhh AHHH (aka Key Changes)

There are two things that happen in music that make me overly happy. They are the bridge of a song (especially in Taylor Swift songs) and the KEY CHANGES!!! Ahh how I love key changes. It's hard to describe the feeling a key change gives me but I'll try. It makes me get this huge smile on my face and kinda wanna jump up and down out of joy. You probably think I'm crazy, but to me key changes seem so powerful and uplifting (especially if you go from a minor key to a major key). One song we sing at my home church in dallas has an amazing key change right as your singing "up from the grave he rose again!" It just makes that part of the song so powerful. Everytime at church when the song starts I get so excited because I know the key change is coming.

Glee must know my love for key changes because their version of "Don't Stop Believin" in the season finale had one. And man oh man it made that song even more brilliant than it was before. If you know of an amazing song with a key change tell me! I wish it was a requirement for songs to have key changes, but then again I guess they wouldn't be as special.

This is the whole Journey Medley from the season finale, I couldn't find just "Don't Stop Believing" but all of it's amazing!!

oh Central Park

I love everything about New York City. How it's the city that never sleeps, how you walk everywhere, Broadway, and so much more! Believe me there will be several posts regarding this city because it continues to inspire me and make me so happy! But one of my favorite parts of the city is most definately Central Park. I mean just any park is awesome, a place to run and play. But Central Park is not only extremely beautiful with all the trees and flowers (and I sure do love my flowers) but I love the fact that it's like stuck in the middle of this huge city. It is surrounded by all these huge buildings made of stone and concrete which are beautiful in their own way, but then there are hundreds of trees and huge fields you can just lay in and enjoy the sun and the people around you. On my first trip to New York we took a horse carriage ride around the park, now thats a way to see it! Although it was in October or November so it wasn't in it's full spring glory, it was still amazing. When you see a picture (like one that I put on here) I think it looks so awesome seeing all the buildings and then this rectangle of green and some blue. It's such a relief to all the concrete. I love these pictures from the spring time with the trees blooming! man it is just so beautiful!

Also, I love in movies when they are in cental park. Like the opening and several other parts in the movie Hair, just dancing and singing and enjoying life. And then in Enchanted when everyone breaks out in "Thats how you know" as they run through Central Park. I mean does it get better than singing and dancing as you run through a gorgous park in the middle of the best city in the world? I don't think so.

If you have never been to Central Park, make sure to get there at some point in your life because it will most definately make your heart happy!

The Joy of Spring (Awakening that is)

I saw the tour of Spring Awakening this past Easter weekend with my mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, and my friend Kelsey. To say amazing would be an understatement. You are probably thinking oh goodness all this chick's blogs are gonna be about musicals, but don't worry thats not really what this one is about. After seeing the show I went on their website and found out that the cast makes a video blog and let me tell you I have spent way too many hours watching all their videos. I showed kelsey them and got her hooked too. They make me laugh so much, and then some are just so sweet they make me so happy. It makes me want to go on tour so bad because they are just like a little, actually kinda large happy family. The first one I put up is mine and kelsey's all time favorite. You may watch it and think this is so stupid, I don't understand. But if you have a sense of humor like kels and I you will love it. It still makes me laugh everytime I watch it. I will never forget me and kelsey rewarding ourselves while studying physiology by letting us watch this video again and us singing "m and m m and m m and m" to each other... it just makes me very happy : ) The second one is a parody that the guys in the cast made from the song "The Bitch of Living." They rewrote it and made it "The Bitch of 40" for the woman who plays "adult women" in the show because it was her 40th birthday. I love this one too because you can see how much the guys love and look up to this woman and she loves their parody of the song so much. If you have time you should definately watch more of the videos, but if not just watch these two because they are amazing and will hopefully make you smile.

Let The Sun Shine In

Somewhat recently I’ve fallen in love with the 1967 musical Hair: the American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. It’s not just the AMAZING music, which I learned all the words to listening to the soundtrack as I walked to class on the beautiful OU campus which just added to its wonderfulness. It’s the beautiful “hippie love everyone and stop fighting” message that totally inspires me. Sure when people think of hippies they think of everyone doing drugs and free love and war protests. But I think of what inspired those people to participate in those protests and love everyone, in all ways haha. They wanted the world to just except each other and they knew if everyone just used love instead of guns and war the world would be a better place. I just love the words in the songs like the opening number: “When the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace will guide the planet and love with steer the stars.” I think that last line is just amazing. You may think I’m a bit weird, I mean what I would give to live in the 60s. I always say I was born in the wrong century. Man would I love to go to Woodstock and be in those crazy Vietnam War protests. I would totally be a hippie, even my dad said so. Listening to Hair just makes me so Happy. Some of just the fun songs like “Black Boys” and “White Boys” are the best to sing at the top of your lungs while driving with the window down. And the fact that at the end of the musical the cast gets the audience to get up on stage and dance with them. Man how awesome, right? Even the title of this blog, peace flowers freedom happiness, is from a song in hair. Those four things just put me in high spirits. My second favorite song in the whole musical is “Good morning Starshine.” Most of the lyrics are just “gliddy gloop gloopy, nibby nobby nooby, la la la lo lo.” But it just makes me so content. And lastly my favorite part of the musical (granted I haven’t seen it live) is the classic ending with “Let the Sun Shine.” And that’s all they say, they just repeat it over and over again: let the sun shine in. But why not live your life by that small statement. Just accept what happens, take life as it comes, and truly let the sun shine in.

“Oh say can you see my eyes if you can then my hairs too short!” (awesome, right?)
